Oct. 5, 2010 - The Concordia-Chicago women's soccer team put forth a determined and gutsy effort but dropped their sixth straight Northern Athletics Conference match this evening, losing to Benedictine University in Lisle by a 5-0 score.
The Eagles jumped on top early when Megan Johnson stole a pass in front of the Cougars' goal and shot the ball past Lyndsey Garlich (Beecher, IL/H.S.) who was making her first start of the season in goal. Benedictine would add goals in the 21st and 37th minutes to take a 3-0 lead at the half.
Johnson added her second goal of the match early in the second half, and the EAgles closed out the scoring on a 25-yard shot just 1:05 before full time.
Garlich made six saves in her debut. Sarah Ann Evers (Napoleon, OH/H.S.), the Cougars' goalkeeper in the last four outings, started in the field and was credited with one of the Cougars' two shots, Lyndsay Cochran (Manchester, ME/Maranacook Community) had the team's other shot.
The Cougars will return home to host Wisconsin Lutheran College next Wednesday, Oct. 13.
