Oct. 2, 2010 - The Cougar women's soccer team squared off against archrival Concordia Wisconsin this afternoon in Mequon. The Cougars were at a disadvantage going into the game, missing the services of a couple of regular starters, and the Falcons showed no mercy. The hosts scored four times in the first half and blew the game wide open in the second half to finish with a 10-0 victory.
Becky Ott got CUW off and running with two goals in the first 2:13 of the match. Emily Waldorf added a goal at the 5:04 mark, and the Falcons struck again with a goal in the 28th minute.
The Cougars were outshot 15-1 in the first half with freshman Angela Powers (Palos Heights, IL/Shepard) taking the lone scoring opportunity.
Concordia Wisconsin added six goals in the second half on a total of 19 shots while Alyssa Soulis (Grayslake, IL/Grayslake North) had the Cougars' only chance of the second half. Goalkeeper Sarah Ann Evers (Napoleon, OH/H.S.) made her fourth start in goal and registered a season-high 11 saves.
The Cougars will return to action on Tuesday afternoon when they play at Benedictine University in Lisle.
