Oct. 16, 2010 - Concordia-Chicago's women's soccer team looked to build on the momentum generated from Wednesday's 2-2 tie against Wisconsin Lutheran College when they hosted the Milwaukee School of Engineering this afternoon. However, MSOE stifled the Cougars' attack from the opening kickoff, and the Raiders routed the Cougars by a score of 10-0.
Jessica Axt did the most damage among the Raiders, scoring four goals. Axt opened the scoring at the 5:49 mark, taking a lead pass from Paula Bohl and breaking in alone on Concordia goalkeeper Sarah Ann Evers (Napoleon, OH/H.S.). Bohl made it a 2-0 game in the 20th minute on Axt's assist, and Axt later took advantage of some confusion in the back to pounce on a loose ball and make it 3-0 at the half.
Axt completed her hat trick just 63 seconds into the second half, heading in a corner kick. The floodgates opened following that goal, and the visitors would go on to score six more times and outshoot the Cougars 32-0 for the game.
Evers played 55:40 in goal, allowing six goals while making five saves. Lyndsey Garlich (Beecher, IL/H.S.) relieved Evers in goal, allowing four goals and making four saves over the final 34:20.
The Cougars will host Rockford College on Tuesday afternoon at 3:00.
