Jon Poppe (Racine, Wis.) of the men’s track team is honored for the week of April 4-10.

Poppe competed in the decathlon at the Chicagoland Championships April 9, breaking his own school record from last year’s meet in the event, scoring 4,810 points and finishing eighth in a highly competitive field. Poppe achieved personal-best marks in seven of the decathlon’s ten events including a 34’ 9” in the shot put (second place) and a time of 54.36 seconds in the 400-meter dash (fourth place).

Poppe, the son of Rev. Randal and Cinda Poppe, is a 2009 graduate of Racine Lutheran High School. He is a sophomore Lutheran secondary education major.
