Marche Smith (Oak Park, Ill.) of the women’s basketball team is honored for the week of Jan. 24-30.

           
Smith scored a school-record 45 points in leading the Cougar women past Concordia Wisconsin 79-68 in the third-place game of the Concordia Invitational Tournament Jan. 29. Smith scored the first 13 of Concordia’s points in overtime and finished with 15 of the team’s 17. Her 15 field goals tied her own single-game record, and the 45 points beat her previous record of 42 set in January 2009. Smith, who scored 18 points in the first-round game versus Concordia Nebraska, was named to the CIT All-Tournament team for her efforts

Smith, the daughter of Charles Bolden and Charlette Smith, is a 2007 graduate of Trinity High School in River Forest. She is a senior sports management major.
