Cassie Irwin (Shelby Township, Mich.) of the women’s track team is honored for the week of Nov. 29-Dec. 5.

           

Irwin turned in two solid performances as the track team made its season debut at the Dec. 4 Illinois State Open. She placed fifth out of 23 runners (many from Division I schools) in the 200-meter dash. Her time of 27.84 seconds was just one-hundredth of a second behind her previous-best time and current school record. Irwin also ran 8.54 seconds in the 60-meter dash which is the third-best time in school history for that event.

           

Irwin, the daughter of Ted and Sandy Irwin, is a 2009 graduate of Lutheran Northwest High School in Rochester, Michigan. She is a sophomore elementary education major.
