Shane Virnala (Hacienda Heights, CA) of the football team is honored for the week of Aug. 31–Sept. 6.
            
Virnala, making his first start for Concordia-Chicago, completed 21 of 26 passes (81 percent) for 249 yards and three touchdowns in the football team’s 51-50 win over Beloit on Sept. 5. His touchdown passes went for 10, 33 and 40 yards, and he drove the offense to four scores in their five first-half possessions.
           
Virnala, the son of Eric and Ann Marie Virnala, is a 2012 graduate of Los Altos High School in Hacienda Heights, CA. He is a sophomore sports management major.
