Matt McTague (Skokie, IL) of the baseball team is honored for the week of March 16-22.
McTague threw a career-high seven innings in relief and earned the win in the 6-5 victory over Washington University in St. Louis on March 22. The righthander allowed two runs on six hits while walking two and striking out one. McTague was at his best in the bottom of the 11th inning when he escaped a bases-loaded, no-out jam by getting three ground balls. Given the reprieve, the Cougars then won the game in the next inning.
McTague, the son of Kevin and Mary Kay McTague, is a 2013 graduate of Niles North High School in Skokie, IL. He is a sophomore exercise science major.
