Kassy Koehler (Belvidere, IL) of the women’s basketball team is honored for the period of Feb. 3-9.
Koehler scored a season-high 24 points, one off her career-high mark, in the Cougar women’s 63-58 win over Benedictine University on Feb. 4. The 5’10” guard/forward made six of her 12 shots from three-point range, four of them in the second half as the Cougars took control of the game. Koehler also contributed two clutch free throws in the final minute to salt away the victory on “Play 4 Kay” night, an event which helped support the Kay Yow Cancer Foundation. Koehler revealed after the game that she had dedicated her game to an aunt who had passed away from cancer just a few weeks earlier.
Koehler, the daughter of Joel and Jane Koehler, is a 2011 graduate of Rockford Lutheran High School in Rockford, IL. She is a junior exercise science major.
