Christian Sorensen (Berwyn, Ill.) of the men’s cross-country team is honored for the week of Oct. 25-31.

           

Sorensen earned the men’s Northern Athletics Conference Freshman of the Year award for 2010, finishing fifth overall out of 102 runners with a time of 27:11.8 in the 8K race. His time, which was punctuated with an extra burst over the final 150 meters, was his best of the year, beating his previous best of 27:17.1 from the Oct. 16 meet at the University of Wisconsin-Parkside.

 

Sorensen, the son of Robert and Maritza Sorensen, is a 2010 graduate of Walther Lutheran High School in Melrose Park, Illinois. He is a freshman elementary education major.
