Sami DeFord (South Bend, IN) of the softball team is honored for the week of March 25-31.

DeFord went 1-1 for the Cougar softball team last week with a 2.53 earned run average in 19 1/3 innings. She took a tough 2-1 loss in 10 innings to Dominican University March 27 but came back to blank Alverno College 1-0 on March 30. She allowed Alverno just two hits and no walks over seven innings in helping the Cougars to their first win this season in Northern Athletics Conference play.

DeFord, the daughter of Scott and Melanie DeFord, is a 2008 graduate of Marian High School in Mishiwaka, Indiana. She is a senior business communications major.
