Marche Smith (Oak Park, Ill.) of the women’s basketball team is honored for the week of Jan. 3-9.

Smith’s 18-point second half enabled the Cougar women to pull away to a 59-49 win against Alverno College Jan. 8 in Milwaukee. She contributed five points in a 7-0 run that put the Cougars in front for good at 30-23. For the game, Smith shot 10-16 (2-6 on threes) to finish with a game-high 22 points. Earlier in the week, Smith tallied 15 points in a loss to Benedictine University. The 5’7” senior leads the team with 244 points through 12 games (20.3 avg.).

Smith, the daughter of Charles Bolden and Charlette Smith, is a 2007 graduate of Trinity High School in River Forest, Illinois. She is a senior sports management major.
