Thomas Gier (Fox Lake, IL) of the baseball team is honored for the week of March 11-17.
Gier led the Cougars to March 16 wins over DePauw University and Rose-Hulman Institute with a combined 3-8 at the plate, three runs and three RBIs. The designated hitter and cleanup batter went 2-4 in the 7-6 win over DePauw with a two-out RBI double that gave Concordia a third-inning lead. In the nightcap, a 7-3 win over Rose-Hulman, Gier’s two-run single highlighted a five-run seventh that enabled the Cougars to pull away from the Engineers. For the season, Gier is hitting .444 over seven games (27 at-bats) with eight runs batted in.
Gier, the son of John and Lisa Gier, is a 2010 graduate of Grant Community High School in Fox Lake, Illinois. He is a junior secondary education/physical education major.
