Alex Schmidt (Frankenmuth, MI) of the women’s cross-country team is honored for the week of Nov. 5-11.
Schmidt closed out an excellent cross-country season with her fastest race of the year at the NCAA Division III Midwest Regionals in Oshkosh, Wisconsin on Nov. 10. She ran the 6K race in 23:15.74, bettering her previous best season effort by five seconds. Schmidt’s effort put her in the top 25 percent of the field as she finished 63rd out of 260 runners.
Schmidt, the daughter of Tyson and Sharon Schmidt, is a 2009 graduate of Frankenmuth High School in Frankenmuth, Mich. She is a senior Lutheran education major with emphases in physical education and exercise science.
