Concordia University Chicago Athletics

Merrell Davis (Milwaukee, WI) of the men’s track team is honored for the week of April 16-22. He is recognized for his performance at the Concordia University Chicago Cougar Invitational April 20.

Davis claimed the best long jump in all of NCAA Division III with his effort of 24’ 4 ¼”. His mark broke the school record of 23’ 10” by Armin Gutekunst set in 1932. Davis also won the 200-meter dash (22.02 seconds) and placed second in the triple jump (44’ 1 ½”) to account for 28 of the Cougar men’s 84 points and their third-place finish.

Davis, the son of Anne Novotny, is a 2008 graduate of Milwaukee Lutheran High School. He is a junior business communications major.
