Alex Schmidt (Frankenmuth, MI) of the women’s indoor track team is honored for the week of Feb. 13-19.
Schmidt set a new school record for the second time in two weeks at the Feb. 17 Cardinal Classic hosted by North Central College. She won the event with a time of 10:42.17, bettering her time of 10:53.07 which was set Feb. 9 at the Chicagoland Indoor Championships. Schmidt is currently the conference leader in the 3,000-meters as well as the 5,000-meter and the mile.
Schmidt, the daughter of Tyson and Sharon Schmidt, is a 2009 graduate of Frankenmuth High School. She is a junior physical education major.
