Marty Beckman (Parma, Ohio) of the football team is honored for the week of Sept. 13-19.

            
Beckman led an excellent defensive effort in the Cougars’ 49-7 win over the College of St. Scholastica Sept. 18. He led the team with seven solo and three tackle assists. Beckman also tied a team single-game record with four sacks totaling 31 yards in losses. All four sacks came in the first half (two on consecutive plays) as the Cougars’ defense shutout the Saints over the first 30 minutes. The defensive end currently leads the team with 16.5 total tackles, 7.5 accounting for 40 yards in losses.

            
Beckman, the son of David and Melissa Beckman, is a 2008 graduate of Lutheran West High School in Rocky River, Ohio. He is a junior (sophomore eligibility) education major.
