Daniel Coates joined the CUC men's volleyball staff as a Graduate Assistant Coach in the fall of 2023.
Coates was heavily involved in his alma mater, Miami University (OH), in their varsity and club volleyball programs. He served as a Practice Assistant for three years in his undergraduate years, where he replicated opponent scouting reports and provided coaching advice to Division I athletes. He also participated in club volleyball at Miami, where Coates served as the President in the 2022-23 season. During this time, he helped coach peers, scheduled and attended tournaments, and ran a home tournament with twelve teams in attendance.
In tandem with his time at Miami, Coates was an Assistant Coach with the Borderline Volleyball Club out of Oxford, Ohio. He created practice schedules for three different age groups and specialized skills with the girls team's of ages 14-16. He also attended tournaments and provided insight for the 16U Hawks travel volleyball team.
Coates graduated with a degree in Political Science from Miami University (OH) in 2023. He will be working towards his master's degree at Concordia University Chicago while assisting the men's volleyball program.
