RIVER FOREST, Ill. – The Concordia University Chicago (CUC) women's soccer team hosted the Depauw University Tigers. It was an even battle, but the Tigers were able to edge out the Cougars, 1-0.
Inside the Box
First Half
- Gonzales made two saves within the first eight minutes to keep the game level.
- As the Cougars found their footing, they quickly made their way up the field. In the 10th minute, Hirayama found space and took a shot, but had it saved by DePauw's goalkeeper.
- Five minutes later, N. Flores tried her luck at a goal, but her shot was also saved.
- The Tigers counter attacked, but Gonzales remained a brick wall, not allowing anything past her.
- E. Flores and Schlismann also got shots off but were unable to find the net. The two teams remained scoreless after 45 minutes.
Second Half
- The Tigers put the pressure on the Cougars early in the half with multiple shots and forcing a save from Gonzales. Their persistence eventually gave them lead in the 55th minute.
- After the kickoff, N. Flores quickly led the squad forwards and got a shot off in response to the Tigers' lead.
- The Cougars' defense denied the Tigers many quality chances and Gonzales was able to stop any more shots her way.
- N. Flores recorded the Cougars' final shot of the game in the 82nd minute but couldn't find the back of the net. CUC fell 1-0.
What's Next
