Cougars Fall to St. John Fisher in Orlando Matchup

Orlando, Fla. - The Concordia University Chicago (CUC) men's tennis team opened up its spring break trip with a matchup against St. John Fisher University. The Cougars displayed strong perseverance throughout their matches but ultimately fell 7-0.
 
Doubles
  • In the No. 2 doubles match, August Barnes (Sodus, Mich.) and Collin Dickey (Frisco, Texas) put up a good fight, beating out their opponents 6-2.
  • A great fight could also be mentioned for our No. 1 doubles duo, Andres Villagran (El Paso, Texas) and Sam Smith (Munster, Ind.), but they ultimately fell 6-3.
  • Kevin Bullens (River Forest, Ill.) and Diego Loveshe (Franklin Park, Ill.) did not come out on top as they fell 6-0 in the No. 3 doubles.
 
Singles
  • St. John Fisher University swept the Cougars in all six matches.
  • Smith put up a tough battle in No. 3 singles as he took the first set 7-6 but proceeded to fall in the second set 6-0. In the tiebreaker, Smith fell 10-4, handing the match to his opponent.
  • At No. 1 singles, Dickey came close in his first set, dropping it, 6-4. He then fell 6-4 once more in his second set.
  • In No. 5 singles, Bullens had a tight match, falling 6-4 in the first set, but succumbing in the second set with 6-0.
  • Barnes also put up a good fight during the No. 6 singles match, falling 6-1 in the first set, while coming close in the second set, dropping it 6-4.
