Vikings Slash Cougars

APPLETON, WIS.- The Concordia University Chicago (CUC) Cougars men's tennis team competed in a matchup against Lawrence University. The Cougars displayed strong determination in their matches against Lawrence University, battling through challenges but ultimately falling 6-1.
 
DOUBLES
  • Andres Villagran (El Paso, Texas) and Reynaldo Leal (Weslaco, Texas) put up a strong fight but didn't come out on top, falling 6-0 in the No. 1 doubles match.
  • In the No. 2 doubles match, August Barnes (Sodus, Mich.) and Collin Dickey (Frisco, Texas) showcased their talents, defeating their opponents 6-2.
  • The Cougars were also victorious at No. 3 doubles, as Kevin Bullens (River Forest, Ill.) and Kyle Pelzek (Hales Corners, Wis.) won 6-3.
  • The Cougars went into the singles matches, 1-0.
 
SINGLES
  • Lawrence University dominated the Cougars, sweeping all six matches.
  • Villagran showcased hard fought battle in a three-set match at No. 5 singles. Villagran won the first set 7-6 before narrowly falling in the second, 7-5. In the tiebreaker, he fell 10-3 to give the match to the Vikings.
  • Bullens came close in the first set at No. 4 singles, falling 7-6. He then fell 6-3 in the second set.
  • Similarly at No. 6 singles, Barnes didn't make it easy for his opponent, falling in the first set, 7-5. He then kept it close in the second set before ultimately falling 6-4.
  • Dickey also had a tight match at No. 1 singles falling 6-4 in both sets.
