River Forest, Ill. - The Concordia University Chicago (CUC) Cougars men's volleyball team hosted Wisconsin Lutheran Warriors for another round of Northern Athletic Collegiate Conference (NACC) match ups. The Cougars battled and won 3-1.

Inside the Box Score:
- Tyler Holubek (New Lenox, Ill.) had a monstrous night where he had 20 kills, 13 digs, and one kill.
- Alexander Ford (Skokie, Ill.) had a career-high 16 kills, as well as six blocks, and three digs.Â

Here's What Happened
Set One
The Cougars were on the board first with a kill by Jackson Stella (Hoffman Estates, Ill.). With the score tied up at 2 apiece, the Cougars went on a seven-point run and brought the score to 9-2 and forced the Warriors into their first timeout of the set. In this run, the Cougars highlighted by Ford and Marcin Hoffman (Inverness, Ill.), as well as an assisted block by Ford and Hoffman.Â

The Cougar dominance continued as Ford and Stella assisted on a block, and Holubek, Leon Gudzovski (Des Plaines, Ill.), and Hoffman used their strong swings to all get kills. With the score at 23-15 favoring the Cougars, a long rally was won with a great swing by Holubek. To finish off the set, an overpass by the Warriors resulted in a kill for Ford.Â

The Cougars took set one with a final score of 25-15.

Set Two
The Warriors took charge of the second set and found themselves in an early 7-3 lead, however the Cougars, led by kills from Hoffman and Holubek brought them back within one with the score at 7-6.Â

Unfortunately the Cougars struggled to keep the momentum going and with the score at 12-8 and the Cougars trailing by four, they took their first timeout of set two. The Cougars were able to tie the game up at 13 apiece but from there the Warriors found their groove and only allowed the Cougars six more points and dropped the second set. Warriors took set two with a final score of 25-19 making each team have one set a piece.Â

Set Three
The Cougars kicked off the set with a 4-0 run from Hoffman and Holubek, and block by Gudzovksi and Hoffman. Kills by Holubek and Ford, the Cougars quickly went to an 8-3 lead and forced the Warriors to their first timeout of the set. The two teams exchanged points until the Cougars went on 3-0 run led with a kill by Elijah Mosher (Clayton, Ohio) to make the score 16-11, favoring the Cougars.Â

The Warriors started to slowly close the gap with a pair of errors by the Cougars and the Cougars opted to take their first timeout of the set to regroup where the score was 19-16. Kills by Stella and Ford and ace by Gudzovski brought the Cougars one point away from taking set three. Holubek called the set with an ace making the final score 25-20 and the Cougars were now up 2-1.Â

Set Four
The two teams would exchange point-for-point until the Cougars three-point run with kills by Holubek and Ford to pull them into a 6-4 lead. The Warriors followed by matching the Cougar kills and brought the game back to a tie at nine apiece. Kills by Hoffman and Ford, and blocks by Mosher and Ford as well as Stella and Ford, forced the Warriors to take their first timeout of the set with the score at 17-13, favoring the Cougars. Out of timeout, the Cougars continued their dominating performance with kills from Stella, Ford and Mosher and forced the Warriors into their final timeout of the set.Â

Out of the timeout once again, kills by Gudzovksi, Holubek and Hoffman called the game and the Cougars took set four with a final score of 25-17.Â
