RIVER FOREST, ILL. - For the first time at home since 2022, the Concordia University Chicago Cougars played host to the first year program in Saint Mary's College (Indiana) and the Buena Vista Beavers, ultimately splitting the day.
GAME ONE: 8-4 L
The Cougars and the Belles exchanged points in the first half of the opening half and fall behind 3-2 early as four total routines remained available for the second half. The Belles would run away in the second half and outscore CUC 5-2 to close the game with the 8-4 win over CUC.
GAME TWO: 10-0 W
Prior to the start of game two, the Cougars honored their six seniors for their hardwork over the years.
Madison Kara (Las Vegas, Nev.),
Mary Jane Ingold (Pontiac, Ill.),
Abby Porter (Phoenix, Ariz.)Â
Paola Enciso (Newnan Ga.),
Meghan Cummings (Rockford, Ill.), and
Jimena Jimenez (Cicero, Ill.) would all be honored prior fo the coin toss today.Â
Â
The Cougars would see an entire shift in dynamic in game two of the day as they would jump out ahead of the Beavers early, not allowing them to pick up their first point till nearly the end of the half. The Cougars continued to select routines strategically, putting the Beavers in a hard spot, but winning a few more points would be a good place to start. In the fourth quarter, the Cougars would dominate in Team Performance and secure the 10-0 win over the Beavers.Â
The Cougars will face a short turnaround time as they take on the Beavers once again tomorrow as well as the University of Olivet Comets. Coverage can be found at cucougars.com/coverage.
