RIVER FOREST, ILL. -- Concordia University Chicago has announced a strategic shift within the athletic department, discontinuing the STUNT program and refocusing on the gameday cheerleading program.
This realignment will redirect resources to strengthen the cheer program and increase visibility and opportunities in the gameday performance space.
The discontinuation of STUNT and transition to gameday cheer is effective immediately heading into the 2026-27 academic year.
The decision reflects a broader commitment to maximizing opportunities for student-athletes to compete at a high level by enhancing the training environment, recruitment efforts, and overall success of the cheer program.
Concordia University Chicago is committed to helping support current STUNT student-athletes through this transition, with many already being members of the cheer team. Incoming STUNT recruits will be welcomed on the new cheer roster.
The national search for the next head cheerleading coach has already begun.
Concordia-Chicago remains committed to its mission and continues to develop student-athletes for lives of influence and service as they prepare for vocations in the church, family, and the world.
