RIVER FOREST, Ill. – The Concordia University Chicago (CUC) men's volleyball team defended its home court tonight, defeating the Bulldogs of Adrian College, 3-2. The CUC is now 3-6.

Set One
Holubek got the Cougars started with two monster kills split by a service ace from
Jackson Stella (Hoffman Estates, Ill.) for an early 3-0 lead.
The Bulldogs would tie the set at four all before CUC would regain the lead.
Marcin Hoffman (Inverness, Ill.),
Alexander Ford (Skokie, Ill.) Holubek, and Stella would each spike the ball down for kills, building a four-point lead, 14-10, forcing a timeout from Adrian.
Out of the timeout, Adrian battled back to tie the set at 15-15, causing the Cougars to take a timeout. On the restart, the Bulldogs took the lead. CUC kept the set within two points, with kills from Hoffman and Ford and a block by Mosher.
However, the Bulldogs found a rhythm and took set one, 25-21.
Set Two
This set, Adrian took an early 3-1 lead. Service aces from Gudzovski and Holubek along with multiple kills from Holubek kept the set even at 10-10.
Mosher broke the tie with a service ace starting a 4-1 run for the Cougars, which was capped off with a service ace from Stella. The Cougars went up 14-10.
The Cougars kept the lead after a timeout called by the Bulldogs. Holubek and Mosher continued to be strong at the net and score points. With a 20-18 lead, Stella spiked it down for another Cougar kill.
A pair of kills from Holubek and a block from Ford and Hoffman secured set two for Concordia, 25-20. The match was now tied at 1-1.
Set Three
In set three, the Bulldogs and Cougars traded points until it was 10-10. Gudzovski had a solo block and combined with Hoffman for a block in the back-and-forth battle. The Bulldogs took a small 12-10 lead, but CUC was able to go on a 5-0 run, sandwiched by kills from Ford and Holubek for a 15-12 lead.
Concordia maintained a tight lead with kills from Stella and Mosher, 18-15. After a timeout by Adrian, the Bulldogs closed the gap to just one point, 18-17, but that didn't deter the Cougars. Holubek put down three kills, along with two from Ford, one from Hoffman, and the set clincher from Mosher to win set two 25-21. The Cougars now led the match, 2-1.
Set Four
The teams once again traded points and the lead. Holubek got things started for the Cougars and brought the Cougars to a 4-3 lead. Adrian would come back and take a 10-7 lead and force a Cougar timeout. The Bulldogs continued to build on their lead until Gudzovski made a solo block to make it 16-10.
Unfortunately, the Cougars were limited the rest of the set and fell 25-15.
Set Five
Stella kicked off the last set with two kills to go up 3-2.
The Bulldogs would rally to try and pull away but a kill from Stella and a few Bulldog errors tied the set up at 6-6. The teams traded points and kills from Hoffman, Mosher, and Ford kept the set tied at 11-11. Adrian was able to take a 13-11 lead, but the Cougars rallied for the win. Mosher and Holubek made back-to-back kills to tie the set at 13-13.
The Cougars secured the 15-13 victory with a block from Gudzobski and Holubek and won the match 3-2.
