Kenosha, Wis. - The Concordia University Chicago (CUC) Cougars men's track and field team were on the road to Kenosha to compete in day one of the Northern Athletic Collegiate Conference (NACC) Indoor Track & Field Championships.
Here's What Happened
- Matthew Cardwell (Cincinnati, Ohio) competed well in several areas where he placed fifth overall in the men's heptathlon. In the 60 meter dash, he placed second with a time of 7.49, ninth in high jump at 1.55m, second in the long jump at 6.27m, and eighth in shot put with 9.29m.
- Vincent Scarnato (Pottstown, Pa.) also showcased a great performance and placed sixth overall in the men's heptathlon. Starting strong, he placed first in the 60 meter dash with a time of 7.43, tenth at 1.52 meters in the high jump, fifth with 5.99 m in the long jump, and twelfth in shot put throwing 8.50m.
- The men's DMR team, Donovan Depakakibo (Norridge, Ill.), Jamel Goins (Columbus, Ohio), Cameron Mitchell (Racine, Wis.), and Manuel Mendoza, placed 5th all conference.
PR Party
- CJ Morris (Douglasville, Ga.) threw a huge PR in the weight throw at 12.35 meters.
- Julian Switzer (Lake in the Hills, Ill.) PR'd in the 60 meter dash with a time of 7.30.
- In the 5k, Nathaniel Boksa and William Leonard (Oskaloosa, Iowa) ran in new PRs with the times of 17:39.52 and 18:12.60, respectively.
- Last up in PR's, Dayton Merli (Union Mills, Ind.) hit a new personal record with a height of 3.98 meters.

"Lots to celebrate! Matthew and Vinny have put on quite a show for Day 1 in the Indoor heptathlon. Matthew PR'd in 3 out of the 4 first day events putting him in 5th place after day 1. Vinny also PR'd in 3 out of 4 for first day events as well putting him in 6th place. Matthew has a good shot at finishing top 3 with another solid day Proud of how we handled the level of competition of the days events and got some really good performances overall! Lots of PR's to celebrate and carry over into Day 2. Looking forward to seeing some record setting performances and more confidence building by end of day 2."
