CUC Drops Road Match to Edgewood

Madison, Wis. - The Concordia University Chicago (CUC) women's soccer team was at Reddan Park to go up against the Eagles of Edgewood University. After two aggressive halves, the Eagles took out the Cougars 2-0.
 

Inside the Box 

  • Alexa Martinez (Downey, Calif.) was the leader of the night with four total shots. 
  • Both Erika Flores (Oxnard, Calif.) and Angelina Barreno (Chicago, Ill.) followed up with two total shots each. 
  • Natalie Flores (Placentia, Calif.) left the night's match with one shot. 

First Half 

  • In the 27th minute, the Eagles were first on the scoreboard, putting themselves in the lead with 1-0. 
  • The Cougars were not afraid to get hands-on as their defense was pretty strong throughout the half; Emma Schlismann (Joliet, Ill.) had great footwork on the field, getting the ball away from the Eagles on multiple occasions. 
  • In terms of offensive play, Izzy Fairless (Royal Oak, Mich.) came in strong with long kicks and was able to dribble the ball past her opponents quickly. 

Second Half 

  • Brooke Sheriff (Simi Valley, Calif.) was able to contribute to multiple saves for the night. 
  • In the 79th minute, the Eagles put their score up to 2-0 after a goal was made into the top center of the net. 
  • The Cougars put up a good fight, but the Eagles overtook them and swept them 2-0.
