Warriors Sweep Cougars in Senior Day Match

River Forest, Ill. - The Concordia University Chicago (CUC) men's soccer team was home for Senior Day and welcomed their competitors, the Warriors of Wisconsin Lutheran College. After some mild gameplay with spurts of great offensive and defensive plays, the Warriors swept the Cougars 3-0.
 
Before the game, the Cougars honored its seniors, Miguel Figueroa (Chicago, Ill.), Matias Zegarra (Lima, Peru), Juan Moresco (Mercedes, Soriano), Justin Ocampo (Melrose Park, Ill.), Evin Perez (Crystal Lake, Ill.), Jesus Badillo (Tachira, Venezuela), Bernardo Delgado (Morelia, Michoacán), Andre Wangandu (Lansing, Mich.), Kyle Schultz (Pingree Grove, Ill.), and Miguel Salamanca (Chicago, Ill.).
 
Inside the Box:
  • Nethan Gudiel (Chicago, Ill.) had two saves and Schultz had one save.
  • Figueroa and Wangandu both had one shot and one shot on the goal.
  • Daniel Gutierrez (Chicago, Ill.) also had one shot.
 
Here's What Happened
First Half
  • A Warrior nearly scored a goal within the first six minutes of gameplay, but a team save by Moresco prevented that.
  • The offensive play was impressive as Moresco and Caleb Kale (Moline, Ill) worked together throughout the first half.
  • In the 31st minute, the Warriors scored their first goal into the top center of the goal.
 
Second Half
  • In the 50th minute, the Warriors scored their second goal into the bottom left side of the goal, continuing into the second half with 2-0 against the Cougars.
  • The Cougars defensive plays had stepped up as they fell further behind the Warriors; Gudiel performed a save before a third goal was made for the Warriors.
  • In the 85th minute, the Warriors made their third and final goal of the match into the top right of the goal, putting the Cougars down 3-0.
