Cougars Edged by Muskies

PLYMOUTH, Wis. – The Concordia University Chicago men's soccer team competed in its second NACC matchup this afternoon, taking on the Muskies of Lakeland. The Cougars went down early in the first half, and couldn't find an answer, falling 1-0. Concordia is now 1-5 (0-2 NACC).

Inside the Box
How it Happened
Just four minutes into the game, Tokarz took a shot that forced a save from the Muskies' goalkeeper. The Cougars continued to push forward and a few minutes later, Ocampo's shot was saved. However, it was the Muskies who put one into the net in the 14th minute to take a 1-0 lead. Schultz would make four saves in the rest of the half to keep the deficit to just one goal, heading into halftime.

In the second half, Guidel made an early save in the 54th minute, and from then on it was a back-and-forth battle. The Cougars and Muskies each limited each other's chances, and as the final whistle blew, Lakeland's first half goal held up, with Concordia falling 1-0.

The Cougars next game will be Wednesday September 25 at 7:00 pm. Concordia heads to Aurora University for another NACC contest. Coverage can be found at cucougars.com/coverage.
