DUBUQUE, IOWA – The Concordia University Chicago women's soccer team traveled across state lines to face the University of Dubuque Spartans where they would be held blank for the 90-minute match.
INSIDE THE BOX
- Allie Brown (St. Louis, Mo.) was the lone Cougar to play all 90 minutes.
- Brooke Sheriff (Simi Valley, Calif.) tallied eight saves in 75 minutes while freshman Katelyn Wagner () picked up one in her 15 minutes of play.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Spartans took control of the game early and made their first run with an opportunity before being called offside. A corner kick eight minutes into the game for the Spartans would pose another opportunity, but back-to-back saves from Sheriff would keep the scoreboard clean. With the Spartans not backing down, they would find one goal off of 14 first half shots while holding the Cougars without one shot in the first 45 minutes.
Heading into the second half, the Spartans remained consistent and controlled the game on both sides of the ball. A shot within the first minute of the half off the foot of a Spartan would tell the tale of the second half as they would hold the Cougars to yet another 45 minutes without a shot. A pair of second-half goals for the Spartans would close the game with a 3-0 loss for the Cougars.
