RIVER FOREST, ILL. – On a hot and sunny morning, the Concordia Cougars welcomed the Crusaders of Great Lakes Christian College to Concordia Stadium. The Cougars came out on top, defending their turf, 2-0. Concordia is now 4-3.

How it Happened
Just five minutes into the game, Concordia's
Luciana Moran Cruz (Cabo San Lucas, Baja California Sur, Mexico) curled one towards the front post, forcing a save from the Crusaders' goalkeeper. The Cougars continued to press forward, with shots from Brown and Arteaga-Vazquez
. After a handball in the box by the Crusaders in the 25
th minute, Saldivar stepped up. She perfectly placed the ball in the bottom right corner, getting it past the goalkeeper, and gave the Cougars the lead.
Sheriff made a save at the end of the half to keep the Cougars in the lead. To start the second half, Brown and Arteaga-Vazquez put pressure on the Crusaders' defense. Concordia continued its offensive pressure, paying off in the 63rd minute. The Cougars put a cross into the box, which the Crusaders' goalkeeper knocked away, but right into the path of Cazares, who knocked the ball into the back of the net.
Sheriff made one more save towards the end of the half to keep the shutout, as the Cougars took the game 2-0.
