Inside the Box Score:
The opening set began with exchanging points off of both service and attack errors. Back and forth action continued as both teams struggled to go on a run. A block from Stella and David Vales (Oak Forest, Ill.) would be the beginning of a very small run, where Stella had a follow up kill to pull the Cougars ahead by two 4-2. The Trolls quickly responded with a kill of their own, which was the start of a four point run, pulling them ahead by four 16-12. The set continued with trading points, but the Trolls slowly began pulling away, forcing a Cougar timeout. The Trolls run doesn't allow for the Cougars to catch up as they take the first set with a score of 25-19.
The second set began slowly with a service error from the Cougars, followed by a service error from the Trolls. After a slight run from the Trolls, the Cougars answer back with a kill by Stella making the score 7-8. Although the Cougars continued to fight, they wouldn't be able to catch back up as the Trolls went on a six point run making the score 17-9. Timothy Johnson (Indianapolis, Ind.) makes himself known getting a kill, but it wouldn't be enough. Trolls finish off the set with another six point run, making the final score of set two 12-25.
The third set started out strong for the Cougars with a Hoffman kill, followed by two attack errors from the Trolls, and a kill from Vales. The Cougars run quickly gives them the lead making the score 4-1. The Trolls add a kill of their own, the beginning of a seven-point run forcing a Cougar timeout. The score at the timeout was 8-4. A series of exchanges between the teams would end with a kill from the Trolls which would be the beginning of a three-point swing, making the score 19-15. This would force yet another timeout from the Cougars, where an error from the Trolls would help the Cougars side out. The Trolls answer back yet again, closing out the match with a score of 25-19; Trolls taking all three sets.
