Game Recap: Women's Soccer | | Cori Welch, Assistant Director of Athletic Communications

Concordia Falls to St. Norbert

DE PERE, Wis. – The Concordia Chicago women's soccer team (7-5-1 (3-2-1 NACC)) headed to Wisconsin to battle the Green Knights of St. Norbert (4-7 (3-3 NACC)). The Cougars found some chances in the second half but were outscored by the Green Knights and fell 2-0.

Inside the Box
  • Brooke Sheriff (Simi Valley, Calif.) made three saves.
  • Elle Wheelock (Holland, Mich.) took five of Concordia's seven shots, four of which were on goal.
How It Happened
In the first half, the Cougars' progress up the field was hindered by the Green Knights, and therefore focused on defense and holding off St. Norbert. Sheriff made an important save in eighth minute and another in the 33rd. Yet the Green Knights were able to find the goal in the 42nd minute and lead 1-0 at the break.

St. Norbert quickly doubled their lead in the 54th minute. Concordia was not phased, and Wheelock was able to take the Cougars' first shot and force a save from the Green Knights' goalkeeper in the 62nd minute. Natalie Flores (Placentia, Calif.) and Wheelock put the pressure on the Green Knights' goalkeeper multiple times in the final five minutes of play, but the Cougars were denied and fell 2-0.

Concordia's next game will be Wednesday October 9 at 7:00 pm. The Cougars travel to Fond du Lac, Wis. to take on Marian. Coverage can be found at cucougars.com/coverage.
