FOND DU LAC, Wis. – It was a tale of two halves on Wednesday evening as the Concordia Chicago women's soccer program (7-5-2, 3-2-2 NACC) traveled to face Marian University (5-6-3, 2-2-3 NACC). The Cougars took the lead in the first half, but the Sabres were able to come back in the second and end the game in a 2-2 draw.
Inside the Box
- Allie Brown (St. Louis, Mo.) knocked one in the third minute.
- Izzy Fairless (Royal Oak, Mich.) scored in the 27th minute.
- Brooke Sheriff (Simi Valley, Calif.) made nine saves, eight of which came in the second half.
How it Happened
The Cougars stepped up immediately, getting the ball up the field. In the third minute,
Pamela Saldivar (Chicago, Ill.) lobbed in a corner that got passed the goalkeeper and right to Brown, who tapped it in for an early lead.
The Cougars continued to press forward and doubled their lead in the 27
th minute.
Lorena Jaimes (Berwyn, Ill.) put the ball back toward the box and found the head of
Mia Hirayama (Miliani, Hawaii), who flicked it forward. The Sabres' goalkeeper missed the ball and Fairless was right there to scoop it up and put in the back of the net.
In the second half, the Sabres turned the tables and out shot the Cougars 21-3, picking up two goals in the process. Sheriff made eight saves in the second half, to keep the game level and help the Cougars walk away with a 2-2 draw.
