River Forest, Ill. - The Concordia University Chicago women's tennis team stayed at home to defend their own courts. The Cougars took on Concordia University Wisconsin (CUW) with hard fought matches, but ultimately fell 5-2.
Doubles
In doubles, none of the Cougar duos were able to clinch a win, however there were a few components to be highlighted. The duos of Kamila Giza (East Dundee, Ill.) and Jessica Parker (Lake in the Hills, Ill.) as well as Evian Dubon (Franklin Park, Ill.) and Amirah Shakir (Dekalb, Ill.) were each able to score twice within their matches. Unfortunately, for both teams CUW took the match 6-2.
Singles
In singles, two Cougars came out on top.
The first win for the Cougars came from Giza who dominated the court in her match. She took round one 6-1 and round two 6-2, proving herself to be relentless.
The second and final win for the Cougars came from Parker. This win did not come easy for Parker, as the match went into three rounds rather than the typical two. Round one was won by Parker with a score of 7-5, round two Parker fell 6-7, and then in the final round Parker came out on top 1-0. Parker's win was the last win on the day.
