CEDAR RAPIDS, IA – Looking to bounce back from an opening day loss, the Concordia University Chicago women's soccer team (0-2, 0-0) looked to secure their first win of the Fall 2023 campaign against Coe College (1-1, 0-0). Coe midfielder Jenna Aller provided the lone goal of the evening resulting in the 1-0 loss for the Cougars.
Inside the Box Score:
First Half:
It was a tightly contested defensive affair in the first half. The first shot of the day came off of the foot of Carr, but Coe keeper, Lily Monroe registered the save. Since that point, the Cougars were only able to get two more shots off in the half in part to Carr and
Hannah Bowers (Helena, Mont.). Both offenses stalled in the opening half as the Cougars and Kohawks went into halftime tied at 0-0.
Second Half:
The beginning of the second half proved to be a similar storyline to that of the first half as both teams remained stingy on the defensive end. The course of the match changed as Jenna Aller pinged the upper part of the net giving Coe the 1-0 lead over CUC. The Kohawks did relinquish the lead after. The Cougars comeback proved to be faulty as the team ultimately dropped the match 1-0.
What's to Come:
The Cougars will hit the road one more time this week as they travel to Ripon College for another non-conference matchup. Kickoff is scheduled for 4:30 p.m. For all things CUC Women's Soccer, make sure to check out the athletics website at cucougars.com.
