RIVER FOREST, ILL. —On Saturday, September 16th the Muskies of Lakeland University (2-3-1, 1-1-0) traveled to River Forest to take on the Concordia University Chicago Cougars (0-6-0, 0-2-0). The Muskie's second-half attack was enough for a 4-2 win.
Inside the Box:
Julian Yanez (Cicero, Ill.) and
Alexander Lechowicz (Chicago, Ill.) were the two Cougars who contributed on the offensive end. Yanez and Lechowicz each scored a goal of their own as well as assisted each other's goals.
First Half Drama:
The Muskies came out with a fire underneath them and penetrated the ball into the goal within the second minute of the game. However, the Cougars were quick to recover as Yanez headed the ball from Lechowicz into the bottom of the net. The second Cougar goal came in the 25th minute where roles were reversed and Lechowicz found himself a deep goal assisted by Yanez. Lakeland quickly battled back and not even a minute later scored to tie the game once again.
Second Half Battle:
Coming out of the break, both teams were hungry to break the tie. Lakeland was able to capitalize on two opportunities putting them ahead 4-2. Although tremendous hustle on both ends, Lakeland was able to push through and win this conference matchup.
Into The Future:
