RIVER FOREST, ILL. - The Concordia University Chicago Cougars (CUC) women's soccer team (1-4, 1-0) kicked off conference play against the Rockford Regents (3-2-0, 0-1-0). CUC clinched their first home and conference win of the season, scoring the first two goals of the season and securing a 2-1 victory.

First Half
It only took one minute for a shot to occur, as Fullone kicked off the match with an attempt for the Cougars, but was shy of the goal. The Regents swung back with a goal attempt, but Sheriff made the save..
The match would stalemate until Fernandez recorded the first goal, which was the first goal for the team this season for the Cougars at 16:54.
CUC continued to work on the offensive side, attempting another shot from Fullone, but was saved by Rockford's Kaeleigh Taylor.
With the Cougars up 1-0 and outshooting the Regents, RU strengthened their defense for the rest of the half.
Second Half
Both offenses were quiet for the first eight minutes of the second half. With the Cougar offense picking up, Taylor turned it up around the 70-minute mark, recording three saves within 3 minutes for the Regents.
With the Regents scoring with less than ten minutes to play, the game evened up. However, Paulsen denied their efforts five minutes later as she recorded her first goal of the season at 87:55 causing the score to read 2-1.
The final buzzer rang leaving the box score of 2-1. The Cougars recorded the first win of the season and of the conference.
