ELMHURST, ILL. — On the road after a hefty stock of home matches, the Concordia University Chicago (CUC) women's tennis team traveled to a neutral site and faced off against Anderson University (IN). With a doubles and singles win on the day, the Cougars would barely fall to the Ravens with a score of 7-2.
The day started off with a doubles win from Mackenzie Straulin (Johnsburg, Ill.) and Jessica Parker (Lake in the Hills, Ill.). This began with a 7-7 tie in the first set, leading into a heated score of 8-6 in the second set. Straulin and Parker would pick up the lone doubles win of the afternoon on this run.
Only one Cougar would succeed in a singles victory, who also grabbed a doubles victory, Parker. She would open up with a 7-5 win in the beginning set and finish out her win with a 6-4 score to secure a point for the Cougars.
Even with no additional wins in the afternoon, Straulin barely fell short, as she had scores of 6-4 and 6-4 in her loss. Also picking up points were Ali Wingood (Chicago, Ill.) with scores of 6-1 and 6-4 and Amirah Shakir (Dekalb, Ill.) with 6-3 and 6-1.
The Cougars would fall to the Ravens with a final score of 7-2.
