NACC Champions Galore In Last Day Of Conference Championship

 

DE PERE, WIS. — With the final day of the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference (NACC) Championships here, the Concordia University Chicago (CUC) women's track and field team got busy. Multiple Cougars had first place finishes as the team as a whole ended at fourth out of nine teams.

 

All Conference Finishes

  • Kayla Armstrong (Chicago, IL) picked up two NACC Championships as she ran a 24.65 in the 200-meter and a 56.05 in the 400-meter. Both of these times mark new facility records as well. She also earned the honor of NACC Track Athlete of the Year after her impressive outings

  • Also picking up a NACC Championship title was Simone Wilson (Minneapolis, MN). In the 800-meter, Wilson ran a 2:19.29 to reach this distinction

  • The 4x400 relay team, consisting of S.Wilson, Armstrong, Eve Shelton (St. Louis, Mo.), and Daisia Wilson (Belleville, Ill.), became NACC Champions as well with a 4:03.04

  • In the field events, Gabrielle Harding (Rochelle, IL) became a NACC Champion in the hammer throw with a new personal record of 49.93 meters

  • Shelton had another All-Conference honor, as she placed second overall in the 400-meter hurdles with a personal record of 1:07.57

  • An additional relay team in the 4x100 placed in All-Conference standings. The team of Jerzey Allen (Bevier, Mo.), Aniyah Isom, Shelton, and D. Wilson had a second place finish with 50.85 seconds

  • Zahra Sammour (Berwyn, IL) continued her success from day one as she earned All-Conference accolades from her third place finish in long jump at 5.44 meters

  • Also placing third in their event was Madeline Bobinski (Des Plaines, Ill.). She earned All-Conference in shot put after a mark of 12.88 meters

  • Two Cougars picked up All-Conference accolades in high jump: Jamie Seibert (Arlington Heights, Ill.) with a fifth place finish at 1.47 meters and Noor Sammour (Berwyn, Ill.) with a sixth place finish and personal record at 1.42 meters

Notable Cougar Performances

  • In the 1500 meter, two Cougars saw new personal records. Ariel Martinez (Berwyn, Ill.) with a 5:26.69 and McKenna Stanley (Hampshire, Ill.) with a 6:05.20

  • Seibert and N.Sammour were making personal records together in the long jump with 4.82 meters and 4.64 meters, respectively
