Women's Lacrosse Secures Second Straight NACC Win

RIVER FOREST, ILL. --In their second conference matchup of the year, the Concordia University Chicago Cougars took down the Beloit Buccaneers in a dominating 13-2 fashion to secure their second consecutive NACC win.

INSIDE THE BOX
  • Rylee Orenstein (Walnut Creek, Calif.) and Kelli Pietrowski (Wheeling, Ill.) led the offense with four goals and one assist each.
  • Jessica Parker (Lake in the Hills, Ill.) and Nina Naes (St. Louis, Mo.) each added two goals apiece.
  • Chloe Schaafsma (Lockport, Ill.) picked up her third goal of the season.
  • Ryan McGee (Chicago, Ill.) picked up ten saves on the day, surpassing 100 saves this season.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The Buccaneers struck first after a fast paced goal got them on the board after a tough Cougar defense locked down for almost nine minutes. The Cougars retaliated with their first goal of the day a minute later as Parker picked up her first goal of the day off an assist from Naes.
  • With both squads going back and forth, Pietrowski put the Cougars ahead off the assist from Kate Johnson (Lincoln, Neb.) with a minute to play in the quarter.
  • The Buccaneers struck first in the second period as they evened things up off a free position shot, but the Cougars were quick to retaliate once again as they quickly put the go-ahead goal on the board with a shot from Orenstein. The Cougars would take the lead in the 21st minute of the game and never look back.
  • Back-to-back goals from Orenstein followed by Parker's 15th goal of the season would put the Cougars up by a comfortable three goal lead.
  • The second period proved to be the game changer for the Cougars as they picked up six goals in the 15-minute span including Naes' second goal of the season.
  • With McGee standing tall as a brick wall in the net, the Cougar defense shut down the Buccaneer offense and shut them out for the remainder of the game.
  • Becky Colmenares (River Grove, Ill.) sparked on the defense as she forced three turnovers and picked up two groundballs in the process. Sarah Ludwig (Roselle, Ill.) also contributed to the defense as she forced two turnovers while picking up a season-high five groundballs.
  • The Cougars would tack on one last goal for the night as Naes cut inside and picked up her third of the season to secure the 13-2 win.
