River Forest, Ill. – Looking to avoid their fourth-straight loss, the Concordia University Chicago women's lacrosse team (1-6, 0-0) hosted the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse Eagles (5-2, 0-0) in a non-conference matchup. The Cougars found themselves in too much of a hole in the first half, and they were not able to climb out as the Eagles defeated the Cougars 15-4.
Inside the Box
With the Eagles striking first, it became a tightly contested first quarter of play as the Eagles led the Cougars 4-2 heading into the second quarter. Pietrowski and Parker both contributed goals for the Cougars in the opening quarter. However, the Eagles ran away with things in the second as they went on a 6-1 run putting the Cougars in a seven goal deficit.
The Cougar's defensive efforts were much better in the second half as they only let up five goals the rest of the game. Beetow and Orenstein each put up a goal in the second half, helping the Cougars find some more offensive momentum, but despite the strong defensive effort, the Cougars were not able to overcome the Eagles' lead as they dropped their fourth consecutive game 15-4.
The Cougars will return to Cougar Stadium as they host their first conference matchup of the season versus Marian University at 1:00 p.m. Coverage can be found at cucougars.com/coverage.
