RIVER FOREST, ILL. – On a gloomy day in River Forest, the Concordia University Chicago Cougars took on the Illinois Wesleyan University Titans, where they fell 15-1.
INSIDE THE BOX
- The Titans outshot the Cougars 34-14.
- Ryan McGee (Chicago, Ill.) led both sides in saves with 12.
- Brynn Beetow (Buffalo, N.Y.) secured the only goal for the Cougars and picked up her second of the season.
The Cougars got off to a slow start after losing the initial draw control and letting the Titans pick up a goal within the first 30 seconds of the game. Heading down on the offensive end, the Cougars were able to pick up a handful of shots, but simply couldn't find the back of the net. As the half wound down, the Titans picked up their tenth goal of the game.
After a shortened halftime, the Cougars came out looking to battle back. Intensity on the defensive end from
Sarah Ludwig (Roselle, Ill.),
Kelly Saleh (River Forest, Ill.),
Lauren Saleh (River Forest, Ill.), and
Ella Herbig (Oak Creek, Wis.) would combat the Titans' offense momentarily, but the Titans would keep their momentum. The Titans were able to pick up a handful of additional goals throughout the second half, but the Cougars weren't going down without a fight.
A free position shot from Beetow would give the Cougars their first and only goal of the day. As the clock wound down, the Cougars would fall 15-1.
The Cougars will be back in action at home on Saturday as they take on Lake Forest College at noon. Coverage can be found at cucougars.com/coverage.
