River Forest, Ill. – Looking to rebound from their largest loss of the season, the Concordia University Chicago Cougars women's lacrosse team hosted the Lake Forest College Foresters in a non-conference matchup. The Foresters dominated the second half handing the Cougars their fourth loss of the season by a score of 16-5.
Inside the Box
- The Foresters outshot the Cougars 42-18.
- Kelli Pietrowski (Wheeling, Ill.) secured another hat trick on the season as she scored three goals in the game. This is her third time this season scoring three or more goals in a game.
- Ryan McGee (Chicago, Ill.) led both sides in save with 11.
It was an offensive shootout in the first quarter as
Jessica Parker (Lake in the Hills, Ill.) scored the initial goal of the game with 12:45 remaining in the quarter. Throughout the remainder of the quarter, both sides exchanged goal for goal. The Cougars ended up leading the Foresters 4-3 before the beginning of the second quarter. From that point on, it was all Foresters as they outscored the Cougars 13-1 exposing a fatigued Cougar's defense. Taking matters into her own hands, Pietrowski secured two consecutive goals for the Cougars to keep them fighting in the first quarter.
A follow-up goal from senior
Rylee Orenstein (Walnut Creek, Calif.) would give the Cougars their only lead of the day at 4-3 before the Foresters would regain their momentum and hold the Cougars stagnant, handing them their second consecutive loss.
The Cougars will be back in action tomorrow afternoon as the travel to Kalamazoo College to take on the Hornets at 1:00 p.m. Coverage can be found at cucougars.com/coverage.
