MADISON, WIS. -- The Concordia University Chicago Cougars headed north to take on the Edgewood College Eagles, falling 8-1.
INSIDE THE BOX
-
Joseph Perez (Crystal Lake, Ill.) scored the only goal of the day for the Cougars, as the senior picked up his first career goal.
-
Kyle Schultz (Pingree Grove, Ill.) secured four saves on the day.
The Eagles came out swinging as they picked up their first goal of the game in the first six minutes before the Cougars could really get set. While the Cougars continued to try to figure out their defensive settings, the Eagles took advantage and hammered shots in picking up a 5-0 lead heading into the half.
With the Eagles capitalizing on their momentum, they tacked on two additional goals before the Cougars found a glimmer of hope after Perez picked up the lone goal of the day. A set piece from the near side of the field played in by
Giovanni Velasquez (
Cicero, Ill.) caught the foot of
Andrew Lechuga (El Monte, Calif.) which put the ball in perfect position for Perez to find the back of the net.
Despite this mood booster from Perez, the Cougars fell 8-1. They'll be back in action Wednesday as they take on their Division Street Rivals, Dominican University for Senior Day. Kickoff is set for 2:00pm. Coverage can be found at cucougars.com/coverage.
