LISLE, ILL. – With exactly two weeks left in the regular season, the Concordia University Chicago (CUC) men's soccer team (0-13, 0-9) traveled across town for a nighttime showdown with Benedictine University (3-8-1, 2-5-1). After putting themselves in a hole in the first half, the Cougars fell to the Eagles 3-0.

Inside the Box:
	- Garrett Poynter (Noblesville, Ind.) and Alexander Lechowicz (Chicago, Ill.) both led the offensive attack with four shots and one shot on goal apiece.

	- Brandon Arias (Bensenville, Ill.) also attempted two shots.

	- Kyle Schultz (Pingree Grove, Ill.) got the start in goal as he recorded seven saves.

First Half:
Despite giving up their first goal, a little over two minutes into the match, the Cougar offense responded with their first shot attempt of the evening off the foot of Arias in the fifth minute. However, Benedictine still maintained their 1-0 lead. Not too long after, Lechowicz recorded his first shot but missed the goal high right.
As the season has progressed, teams have began to realize how dangerous Poynter is on the offensive attack. His first shot came in the 13
th minute of the contest.
Benedictine had opportunities to score, but Schultz stood his ground raking in five saves in the opening half.

Second Half:
CUC's defense came out of halftime looking very stout as Schultz recorded another save in the 46
th minute.
Lechowicz led the charge on offense soliciting the first shot of the second half for the maroon and gold in the 48
th minute.
Giovanni Velasquez (Cicero, Ill.) made his presence felt as well notching his lone shot of the evening.
A stingy second half defense, and a valiant effort, would not be enough as the Cougars dropped the road contest in Lisle 3-0.
After a three-game road stretch, the Cougars will return to their home turf for the battle of the Concordias as they welcome Concordia University Wisconsin to town. Kickoff is set for 3:30 p.m., and coverage can be found on our athletics' website at cucougars.com.
