Cougars Tie With Muskies On Road Trip

PLYMOUTH, WIS. — The Concordia University Chicago men's soccer team traveled to Plymouth, Wisconsin to take on the Lakeland University Muskies. After both teams battled back and forth, the game ultimately resulted in a 0-0 tie.

Rebounding off of a Muskies shot, the Cougars saw their opportunity to score. Brayan Gonzalez (Glendale Heights, Ill.) took a shot at the goal, but was too wide with his placement and was not able to start the CUC rally. In the 18th minute, Alexis Marsy (Lille, France) was also able to get a shot off as well, but did not find the back of the net.

Gonzalez continued his pursuit at the goal with an additional shot before Elias De Santiago (Chicago, Ill.) gave his attempt. This again was met with no goal as the Muskies goalie was able to save the shot. With the Muskies looking to battle back, the Cougars were not able to generate any offense.

Moving into the second half, Joey Smeriglio (Park Ridge, Ill.) began his offensive battle, as he led the team with three shots on the night. Barely missing the goal and hitting the crossbar, Giuseppe Lazzara (Chicago, Ill.) tried to gain some more power for CUC. On the defensive end, Nicholas Pasut (New Boston, Mich.) kept the Muskies out of the goal with his seven saves on the night. The battle for both teams did not produce a score, ending the game in a 0-0 tie.

The Cougars will be staying on the road as they head to the Milwaukee School of Engineering. Saturday, October 1st, they will kick off this game at 1 p.m. Links to coverage can be found at cucougars.com/coverage.
