RIVER FOREST, Ill. --- The Concordia University Chicago men's soccer team welcomed the St. Norbert Green Knights to Concordia Stadium for Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference (NACC) action on Saturday afternoon. The Cougars created chances, especially in the second half, but would ultimately would come up short by a final score of 2-0.
St. Norbert opened the scoring for the day in the 20
th minute. Willem Van Den Akker played the ball off a corner kick to Mike Murtos, who finished off his first goal of the season, giving SNC the 1-0 lead.
The Green Knights then made it 2-0 in the 43
rd minute, when Joe Meade finished off a penalty kick goal just inside the left post.
The Cougars came very close to netting goals in the second half, hitting the crossbar on three different occasions.
The Cougars will return to action on Wednesday evening, when the team travels to Plymouth, Wisconsin to take on Lakeland University. Opening kickoff is set for 7:00pm.
