Cougars Open Up Conference Play With 0-0 Draw

LISLE, ILL. — The Concordia University Chicago women's soccer team traveled to Lisle today to face off against Benedictine University. After a couple of opportunities to score for both teams, they ultimately came to a draw of 0-0 in their first Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference (NACC) match up of the season.

After a fight back and forth, Julianna Paulsen (Villa Park, Ill.) was able to see some clear field. With a shot on goal, she was dead center before Eagles goalie, Katherine Prochnow, came in for the save. Giving the Cougars a bit of momentum, they continued to try and find offensive drives.

Moving into the second period, this time it was Grace Glodoski (Plainfield, Ill.) who saw her opportunity to score. In the 48th minute of play, Glodoski took a shot at the center of the goal, but was again stopped by the Eagles goalie.

On the other side, Kassie Silenzi (Carpentersville, Ill.) was stellar in goal with nine saves. Silenzi and the Cougars defense were able to keep Benedictine at bay. Without a goal from either side, the game was concluded in a draw, 0-0.

The Cougars will be continuing their NACC action on Thursday as they travel to play Edgewood College. Kick off is scheduled for 1:30pm. Links to coverage can be found at cucougars.com/coverage. You can keep up with the team on Twitter and Instagram @CUCWSOC.
