Box Score 2 MILWAUKEE, Wis. --- Playing in the final series of the 2022 season, the Concordia University Chicago softball team took to the field on Monday afternoon against the Alverno College Inferno. The Cougars' offense poured it on, scoring 14 runs on 13 hits, leading to a 14-2 win in the season finale.

Sydney Sterrett had a team-high three hits (two triples) and drove in four runs.

Alexis Hilgert had two hits and launched a two-run homer in the top of the second.

Holly Bathje picked up the win, working three innings, allowing just two runs on four hits while striking out four.

Karlee Knight closed out her CUC career with two shutout innings of relief, striking out two.
The Cougars opened the scoring for the day in the top of the first. Sterrett led the game off with a triple to left field and later scored on a throw down to first. Alverno answered with two runs of their own in the bottom half to take their only lead in the contest.
Concordia got right back to it in the second. With a runner on first Hilgert launched a full-count pitch over the wall in center field giving CUC the 3-2 lead.
The Cougars blew it wide open in the top of the fourth with an 11-run outburst. With two on and one out, Sterrett singled up the middle scoring Nia Degeorge.
Tegan Oas then doubled to center scoring one.
Becky Pieroni then got into the action with a line-drive single to right, scoring two and extending the CUC lead to 7-2. After a walk and an error Hilgert single to left scoring one.
Carole Ross kept things moving with a single to right, scoring two. One out later with the bases loaded Sterrett ripped her second triple of the ball game over the center fielder's head, clearing the bases. One final run came into score when Oas beat out an infield single.
Knight came on in relief for Bathje and worked the two final innings to seal the 14-2 win.
The Cougars won the second game of the series by forfeit due to an Alverno injury.
